Hello Can West Spring Family, (Update #3)
We hope that all of your families are continuing to stay safe and healthy during this unique time. We thought it was time for another update on the current situation regarding the 2020 spring hockey season.
It was exciting this week to see that the provincial government has began relaxing some restrictions which we have been living under for the last 8 weeks. Can West continues to closely monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but at the same time, trying to plan for the future whenever this situation improves.
At this moment not a whole lot has changed over the last two-three weeks in regards to the hockey community. All Edmonton and area arenas are still closed. Obviously, we don’t know what the future will hold but we have been in contact with other spring teams and spring tournament hosts. Some of these tournaments which were supposed to occur in May and June have managed to be rescheduled for July. When we have more clarity on how indoor organized sports will proceed this summer, and when these tournament hosts are able to confirm their new dates, we will share these dates with you. This week the provincial government noted that it would re-evaluate the current phase 1 restrictions again June 19th. We hope for more clarification at this time and will send out our next update around this date.
If you have not already had the opportunity to fill out our Can West Spring Hockey Survey (2020), please do so as we would love to hear from you.
Can West is still committed to providing our spring youth hockey players an environment to showcase and progress their individual skills within a team setting across all levels of play. We hope that you and your families continue to stay safe and healthy during this time. The Can West Hockey Club will continue to communicate with you as the situation changes, please stay tuned for future announcements.
